Love the bass..

The bassline you have going is great... I just wish there was more trance elements in here..

The classical stands out more than the trance part does, but it does go over very well regardless..

I have a remix of this too though, it's like the opposite though.. LOL.. it is in classical, and has more synth-type elements (Serenity if you want a look)

Anyways... back to the review.. the transition out of the intro sounded great.. but the percussion sounds a bit awkward through the beginning until it comes in steady in the later half of the intro.

Other than that.. maybe if you used some sort of trance saw for the melody.. I think that would be amazing here.

c-choirboy responds:

I tried to keep the classical and make this song a classical song with a bit trance. Stay true to the original was importent I think.
Thanks!

Mwahaha! Creative!

I didn't even recognize the vocals at first.. one of the Kate Lesling packs right?

Nifty as hell. Heavy Dnb.. and the chopped vocals give it an atmospheric trancey feel..

Great work!

Paroxym responds:

yup its Kate's pack. thanks for the review.

good enough....

TO FREAKIN WIN!

Maybe I could still get 2nd though..

This is kinda the idea I had in the beginning.. just much better than I would have done it. =P

5/5, 10/10 and such. Best of luck in the contest!

itsameyayo responds:

lol, maybe, we'll have to say what the judges say. I'll have to check ur submission really soon, I forgot that you entered, so I saw you posting the the MAC (lol, CAC) thread and I was like "huh?"

-Swell, thanks for the review mate, best of luck to you as well :)

How'd I miss this?

Excellent work with the atmosphere..

It starts slow, but as the beat slowly evolves out of... drops of water? It really picks up. I like how you chopped up nautical sounds to give the whole.. lost at sea feel..

Reminds me a lot of BT's Binary Universe tracks. Very smooth.. and draws you in... creates an atmosphere.. but always keeps your attention.

I love this type of music. I'll have to check out the EP

Great stuff man! Keep it up!

Kingbastard responds:

drops of water indeed, please do check out the ep, it's a watery treat:)

I'm an IDM whore.. so I can appreciate this.

Excellent use of samples and effects.. the reversing and panning give a real nice feel. Very atmospheric. Calming, but gritty at the same time.

The crushing, acceleration, deceleration of samples work together well.

Did you use a circuit-bent instrument in this, or just recreate the feel?
I've always wanted to make one.. either that or buy a pre-made off ebay. The furbys are terrifying.

Anywho, great song.. I'll have to remember to check back in sometime in the future.

Kingbastard responds:

I did use a circuit bent casio tr-20 in this. If you're going to circuit bend anything for starters, go for a tomy speak n spell, real easy to do and helps you learn the techniques:)
Please do check back, there's more on my myspae and some shit on youtube too:) Cheers for the review.

Keep at it!

I likey.. you are good with progression. What program do you use?

Hmm.. lemme think..

Well.. the rhythm is nice, and I like how you chop up parts a bit.. that sounds good.

Now... in the melody...

When it goes up.. there is one section that does not fit into the chord structure very well for that progression. Other than that.. everything else is great.

Keep working.. you've got a lot of great things there.. study up a bit on chord structure.. and you've got everything you need to go far with this.

DJ-Infinity responds:

First of all, thank you very much for your review.

I am using the legendary uber software called eJay to make mah tunez =P (Dance 7 tbp)

And with that section that sounds wrong, i think you mean the part with the decayed sound taken out. I did that to unfill it, then fill it back in with a frequency curve of it. I know its a bit wierd, but its the only way i could do it.

Thanks again for review & comments (& for the 5!)

I saw this and had to listen..

Well done, I love the original, so I had to check out your remix of it.

Hmm.. to be critical.. the clap that you use.. feels kinda cut off. If you threw some reverb on it, it would probably come across a bit better. And some of the leads come across a tad bit harsh... probably just need to lower the volume a tad on the octaves. One thing to remember is that higher pitches cut through the mix easier, so it is a good idea to adjust the note velocity to compensate whenever layering on the same channel, or the channel volume if it is a separate instrument.

Now that I'm done there.. Excellent work!

I really like where you accent things here. The bass is good and crunchy, and the lead is well selected.. (I too am a Nexus whore I'm afraid... if only I had a better computer so it didn't rape my cpu) Good stuff.

You deserve a victory muffin. 5/5 -Echoz

BTW: For the brilliant folks reviewing that don't realize... this is a remix of a B0unc3 song... if you haven't heard him, look up his username... or hell, just look at the first page of the trance genre... you can find the original there.

Pyroific responds:

*Eat's Victory Muffin* :3

and i know, everybody keeps thinking this is my own original track, and it's a remix of b0unc3's :S

Pretty sweet stuff.

You definitely should venture more into songs than loops, not saying you do a bad job with them, but I'd like to hear a longer progression! This song actually loops almost seamlessly.

The glitchy stuff is always good. A plugin I think you'd appreciate is dblue's glitch.. www.illformed.org/glitch It is free, and I use it to accompany manual slicing and effects... It can really tear things apart in a nice way.

But yes, the piano and percussion come together quite well... I like the stereo effects and the way the sounds are balanced, definitely comes through well.

Anyways, good luck man.. hope to hear more of you here in the future.

Suspended-3rd-Chord responds:

hey thanks for the nice review!

first off, the reason why my stuff is short is because I use the demo version, until recently. and i usually suck at making full length songs, I make the intro unproportional to the rest of the track.

I actually use dblue glitch :P just not in this track...this actually isnt all that glitchy once I look back at it.

anyways, thanks a bunch for the suggestions and listen, its appreciated man.

Ibizaish

has a bit of an Ibiza feel..
guess it is that piano and ocean waves, lol

Now, I do have one complaint, your percussion is way overpowering. It wouldn't be bad, except it is sitting on the very top of the rest of the mix, with everything else in the background. It feels like you need a lead to sit on top of it.

I like the pads and everything you used though. That technoey phantasy starish synth that you tend to use a lot always sounds good. And of course, the piano is one of my favorite parts, and the waves were certainly a nice addition.. Leaves a nice chill feel.

Well, 5/5 and such, keep it up!
-Echoz

Sylacone responds:

I like my drums overpowering. XD, plus the songs volume goes over the drums. So it cancels out

nice synths, good beat, fun song

I like the different sounds you use here, lots of chrunchy FX, sounds like some serious bit-chrunching going on. Some crazy vibrato on the lead too. I like the beat that you have going, kinda reggae-pirate beat.. lol. A lot of trancy and VGish synth. Only thing that I think would really add to this would be some sort of crazy glitch break.
5/5- Echoz

beatmasterJAG responds:

Thanks!

A glitch break, hmmm very good suggestion!! Yeh, I can't escape my VG sound huh lol.
